Our City Manager has met with Doraville, Brookhaven, and Chamblee City officials. They have turned down the proposal of a North Dekalb Fire Department.
The original idea for Mr Hutmacher was to replace Dekalb 911. Robert Wittenstein was at his side leading the charge.
The two gentleman told Dunwoody residents this would stop our troubles with 911 service ie fire services.
I have heard complaints of fire response but I have seen fire trucks rush to an apartment complex on Chamblee Dunwoody Road from the interstate recently. One truck broke off going to the Barclay Station to wait for any other calls coming in. The other truck went to the fire site where several trucks had already arrived . Remember even though several trucks were at the apartment complex leaving the firehouse empty more were dispatched to the firehouse in case your home had a need. Being part of a large 1 million plus fire department has an advantage.
Chatcom slows the reporting of fire and EMS calls.
Does anyone know how much money we spent trying to get Chatcom to interface with Dekalb 911?
How long do citizens have to wait?
Do we have to BUY a fire department to correct the problem?
