Meanwhile we watch the City Council pat themselves on the back for accomplishments i.e. for signing contracts that are incomplete the iron sky contract. The city bought camera system for Brookrun Park. After signing for the video surveillance contract which was over budgeted (price$135,750) ,the council was informed the contracted did not include the wiring and the city need to pay an additional $74,270.
How many citizens have put in security cameras on their homes and read the contract or did not ask the contractor about the wiring?
Why did our city manager not notice wiring was not included??? Mr Hutmacher is at work 40hr/wk and oversees Brent Walker the park manager. Again a public safety issue did not get the correct oversight. The council knows this is a problem with Mr Hutmacher and still they did not read the contract before signing.
At the November 12, 2013 City council meeting John Heneghan was not focused on the city public safety issues. No John, Chamblee does not have CAD to CAD. Chamblee uses a one button system for transfer but they are faster then ChatComm. They also follow the protocol procedure.AND please don't use the cell phone excuse. Everyone is aware of Smart phone 911. It is 2014.
And John you pride yourself being on the council longer than others. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING ON THE CHATCOMM CONTRACT!!!!!!!One side no source code ownership , no performance based pay outs....
And Mayor Mike Davis stood in front of us all Stating he got their attention and the problem was the owners did not know our frustration. They live in Metro Atlanta. DO THEY NOT OWN A TV????? Mr Mayor your reasoning does not hold and now that it is the end of the contract they want to do something? New contract has no performance base payment? STOP LYING TO YOUR OWN PEOPLE YOU REPRESENT US. And in your speech you state the system will be up no later than January 1st. WELL it is still broken.
Now John Heneghan want us to believe it will be fixed in March Do you know how many times they promised us it will be fixed?
Now ,what are you going to do? We can afford our own 911 system. We are just as smart(smart people-smart city) as Johns Creek and Sandy Springs. BUT our operators will be transferring calls only to Dekalb and not to Dekalb and Sandy Springs or Johns Creek Ems/Fire.
Yes I said that the council is too busy building parks and bike lanes to deal with public safety.
Yes I have seen you award crossing guards but what about our loved ones. One minute can change everything and for three years the council has done nothing. John you have served yourself well, but what about the people? Don't ask for re-election if you cannot handle the job.
Warren Hutmacher keeps coming back to the council with
new contracts for a failed system or additional money to fix
software issues. In fact he was at the council retreat with
another contract from ChatComm. Still one sided. You still
don't understand the source code language or the
intellectual property, but you continue approve contracts that
the City Manager recommended.
No critical thinking here. Watch the video of 17 months ago. If the Mayor and city council does not take action now to change the situation it will remain the same. Can we afford to jeopardize citizen safety?
